Small Update #3: Building Enemy AI


Hello everyone! Welcome to Update 3 where I post bi-weekly updates on my game called MC Ninja.

I spent most of my time working on enemy AI and figuring out how I'm going to structure my levels.


I've also been doing some planning regarding the game-play loop.

A lot of ideas have been written down, and I'm going to get to them one at a time!

So to break everything down to a percentage, this is the status of the game at this time:

Story (Dialogue for characters, context on the world): ~2% 

World Building (test blocks, graphics): ~10%

Characters/Enemy Building (the player, enemies, bosses): ~20% (+8%*)

Coding (test cases, production code): ~14% (+12%*)

Overall (when the game is finished, this will be 100%): ~8% (+4%*)

* = from last update


These are rough estimates but I'm hoping they visualize the progress.

The focus these two weeks has been on enemy intelligence and coding.


Since I've been coding more than building levels, I can't show too many pictures this time,

but I can show you this:


This is how I'm building the enemies. WITH THE POWER OF PROGRAMMING... I can make it do things,
like walk around, see the player, attack the player, stuff like that.

This also means I've got a combat system in the works. That's coming along nicely, too.

And that's it for this update! Sorry if there wasn't a lot to talk about. I can assure everything
is going as planned!

Oh and no word on the demo yet! I'm taking development one step at a time.
