Small Update #7: Almost Finished the Demo!


Hello everyone! Welcome to Update 7 where I post bi-weekly updates on MC Ninja.

The good news is progress on the demo is going as expected, and a Spring 2021 release is looking realistic.

Expect big news in April, possibly by the next update!

Since the game is fairly large-scale, I figured players might get lost, so I've been working on getting a minimap function working.

I've also been working on balancing the levels so you'll get action and rewards in most sections, and other sections will be slower-paced.

One thing that is missing from the demo at the moment, is the addition of bosses. No promises but I might be able to get at least one boss finished and playable before the demo is out :)

As with every update, here's the breakdown so far:

Story (Dialogue for characters, context on the world): ~2% (not the focus at the moment)

World Building (test blocks, graphics): ~20% (+5%*)

Characters/Enemy Building (the player, enemies, bosses): ~34%

Coding (test cases, production code): ~36% (+1%*)

Overall (when the game is finished, this will be 100%): ~20% (+2%*)

* = from last update

I think World Building is officially finished for the demo portion.

All that's really left is getting the XP and upgrade system working, placing in the audio, and finishing up the UI.
